Welcome to American Family Karate!
We are veterans in the martial arts and fitness industries and have been
providing specialized fitness and self-defense instruction for children,
teens and adults for over twenty years! We offer the best in after-school
martial arts and summer camp programs for children, and Kenpo Karate
self-defense programs for women, men, teens and children.
Additionally, American Family Martial Arts Centers offer creative
curriculums combining gymnastics and karate for children as young as
three-years old and cater to the needs and interests of modern families,
especially those who require after-school instruction and care.
Our internationally-ranked instructors have taught martial arts on three
continents and are appreciated for their safe, professional and caring
approach to martial arts and fitness programs.
Our Senior Instructor, Dr. Gregg E. Townsley, is a personal student of Kenpo
Grandmasters David and Dennis Hebler and Kenpo-Ju Jitsu expert, Dave German,
as well as Goju-Shorei Weapons System founder Dave McNeil and Portland Small
Circle Master Stan Miller.
Our training and student promotions are certified by a number of
professional martial arts associations, including the Original American
Kenpo Karate Association of Oregon (a successor to Dave Hebler's Original
American Kenpo Karate Association) and the Goju-Shorei Weapons System.
We teach American Kenpo Karate, the first truly American self-defense art,
with a root in traditional Chinese and Japanese arts. Many of our
instructors train or are skilled in other martial arts, including Tae Kwon
Do, Small Circle Ju-Jitsu, Aikido, and Tai Chi. Individual studio schedules
reflect the richness of their experience.
American Family Martial Arts Centers, Inc. has full-service studios in both
Hillsboro, OR and Sherwood, OR and will soon place a studio in Beaverton,
OR. But Satellite programs are located throughout the greater Beaverton,
Hillsboro, Portland and Sherwood areas.
